Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for parents and kids.

Tap the settings wheel in the top right corner, and answer the Grown-Ups Only math problem. Tap Manage Children, and then +Add Child. Enter their name, and choose their grade level. You can add several children in the app — each gets their own learning path and progress. You can edit or remove a profile at any time from settings.
Tap the settings wheel in the top right corner, and answer the Grown-Ups Only math problem. Tap Manage Children, then Edit. After making the desired changes, tap Save.
Choose the voice input mode when starting a practice session. The first time, your device will ask permission to use the microphone and speech recognition so your child can answer out loud. Recognition is handled by your device's operating system, not by the app. You can switch back to multiple-choice or keyboard input anytime, and you can manage these permissions in your device's Settings app.
Yes. Once it's downloaded, Math Factlings runs entirely on your device. Practice, progress tracking, and collecting Factlings all work with no internet connection, and nothing your child does is sent anywhere.
No to all three. Math Factlings is a one-time purchase from the App Store or Google Play. There is no subscription, nothing locked behind a later payment, and no advertising of any kind.
Math Factlings is a one-time paid download tied to the store account you bought it with — there is no Math Factlings account to create or sign in to. Sign in with the same Apple Account on another iPhone or iPad, or the same Google Account on another Android device, and download it again at no extra charge. Purchases do not carry across stores, so a copy bought on the App Store is not also free on Google Play, or the reverse.
Progress is stored only on the device it was made on — there is no account, and nothing syncs through us. If you set up a new device from a backup of the old one — iCloud or a computer backup on Apple devices, Android's backup service on Android — the app's data normally comes along with it. Installing the app fresh on a second device starts with empty profiles.
Tap the settings wheel in the top right corner and answer the Grown-Ups Only math problem, then tap Manage Children and remove the profile you want to delete. Deleting the app from your device removes everything — all profiles, progress, and collected Factlings. Neither can be undone, because we keep no copy of any of it.
Parents manage all profiles and settings, and certain areas are protected by a parent gate so younger children stay focused on practice. There's no third-party advertising and no external links in the kid-facing experience.

Privacy & Your Family

Math Factlings is designed for children, and we take that responsibility seriously.

Math Factlings is built for kids in grades K–5 and is meant to be set up and managed by a parent or guardian. There is no account and no sign-in — we never ask for an email address, a password, or any way to identify you or your child. Nothing to create, nothing to remember, and nothing for us to lose.

What we collect

  • Child profile basics — a first name (or nickname) and grade level you enter, used to personalize practice.
  • Progress data — practice results, mastery, streaks, and timing, used to show progress and tailor difficulty.

Microphone & speech recognition

The optional voice input mode uses the microphone and speech recognition only to understand a spoken answer to a math problem, while your child is actively using that mode. The app does not record or store audio, and never sends any to us. Recognition itself is handled by your device's operating system, which may process audio on the device or with Apple or Google depending on the device and its settings — the Privacy Policy explains this. Voice input is entirely optional, and tap or keyboard answers work just as well.

What we don't do

  • No accounts, no sign-in, and no passwords.
  • No email addresses or contact details collected.
  • No third-party advertising.
  • No selling of personal information.
  • No external links or social features in the kid-facing experience.

This is the plain-language summary. For full details — including microphone use, children's privacy, purchases, and your rights — read the Math Factlings Privacy Policy.
